Sales can become one of your greatest allies.
Sales boils down to persuading, influencing, and convincing others—your customers or prospects. If you think about it, product people also wear the sales hat when we share our product vision and strategy, solicit buy-in and alignment around our product roadmap, and bring our teammates along in the product development journey. 😉
Start by getting to know their day-to-day:
What are the success metrics/key performance indicators (KPIs) on which their performance is measured?
Where do they experience friction with customers or prospects as they’re taking them through the sales cycle?
What feedback have they heard about the product or its positioning through their interactions with customers and prospects?
The success of Sales’ ability to get folks to purchase your product is your success—and in some cases, tightly interwoven with the company’s success.
